SIMPLE. SUSTAINABLE. SOCIABLe.

  • We have a Daily Bible Reading Plan on our website that leads us through the whole of Scripture, together with explanatory Bible Project films.  We trust that the Word will speak whatever happens!  It is our bread (and butter) for the journey.  We meet in to read the bible and discuss and seek to apply the passages to our lives. The church will be together in journeying through the whole bible and we will explore the question ‘what did the Spirit reveal through the week’s reading?’  The best guard against heresy is for everyone to be reading together.

  • We are keen to have few overheads and to not be swayed by finances. We would love our giving to be for local and global missional purposes. Garden is not limited by the use of buildings and so any place can be reached regardless of the cost of property.  We will seek to create an environment of intimacy.  Our Pastors are spiritual parents and not so much “babysitters” and so we all chip in as a family to grow up in the faith and share together.

  • We enable simple, organic and intentional structures.  Jesus discipled 12 people but particularly focussed on 3. We try to do something similar.  Our gatherings will be relaxed but real.  Hopefully every person knows who they are discipling and who is discipling them in love.

  • This is hard to do but in a small gathering there is at least an environment in which we expect everyone to use their gifts. Leaders will not over use their gifts and so create space for others to grow theirs and to test and try them out.

  • As we grow, we think about multiplication rather than addition. If we don’t multiply then we get bigger and bigger and one set of spiritual parents become grandparents to many ‘children’.  What we want is for our children to grow up and leave home and become adults in the faith.

  • Jesus is the draw.  We don’t need the best of everything.  We just offer ourselves and empower each other.  We enjoy meeting monthly for gathered worship to be a public witness, to provide a funnel for people to join and ‘come and see’ and to celebrate being part of something bigger than our house.  We enjoy reflcting the creativity of God and exploring alternative patterns, sounds and songs.
