Sanctuary
From The Soil To The Soul
Our story; one destination
Sanctuary is something that we all need and crave. It may mean different things to each of us, but ultimately; the solution is the same. True sanctuary is Jesus alone.
We are excited to encourage Meg and Charles and the local church as they prepare to hold ‘Encounter our Animals & Ecology’ events where we will encourage guided interaction with the sheep, chickens & ducks and eventually small goats as they provide such a gentle, nonjudgmental presence which so many people find comforting.
Meg and Charles say: “St Margaret’s churchyard in Stratton Strawless has had a Norfolk Wildlife Trust Survey and has diverse wild habitats. We, therefore, take care to graze our sheep so as not to interfere with their natural ecosystem. Our aim is to encourage and strengthen connection to and care of the natural ecology of our churchyard which in turn has therapeutic benefit for all concerned and so naturally heeds our call to respond to the fifth mark of mission.
The training of our animals is in its early days as we shape train and do not rush our animals so things naturally may take a little longer, but the result will be soft and secure. However, we aim to have a ‘Meet the Sheep’ in the Church at our Harvest Festival where we will be talking about how Jesus used the illustration of sheep in so many of his teachings. Again, at Christmas, we will be planning an event within the church but wish to see how the animals are coming along before committing them to starring in their own Nativity play!”
Come and join in and see for yourself!
